As we celebrate the festival of lights, we reflect on Hadassah UK’s projects this year

As the global uncertainty surrounding COVID-19 and its variants continued into 2021, Hadassah has moved from strength to strength.

Here are the moments over the past 12 months that have helped to illuminate Hadassah’s mission and have enhanced the health and lives of people in Jerusalem and worldwide through support of medical care and research at Hadassah’s hospitals.

Hadassah UK are grateful to our loyal donors for your continued support which has helped to fund many important projects this year, enabling Hadassah Hospitals to provide compassionate care to over 1.2 million people.

The New Round Tower will have 11 floors with an extra 200 beds and 17 operating theatres, which will significantly expand our capacity to serve the growing population of Jerusalem. Hadassah UK is sponsoring the modernisation of the Haematology-Oncology Wing on the third floor.

Hadassah’s New Rehabilitation Centre at Mt. Scopus is currently in construction and ahead of schedule. Hadassah UK is sponsoring the Technological Incubator Unit which will create a space for innovative research and development of new ways to treat rehab needs, including using smart phones and apps. This will enable the hospital to continue to give the first class treatment and care well into the future for which Hadassah is famous.

Hadassah UK has sponsored a brand-new state-of-the-art Nursery, which supports the Maternity Wards and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and together provides the highest possible quality multi-layered care available today. Hadassah UK will provide specialised equipment in the Nursery for those babies that may need medication or urgent special treatment after their birth to ensure they get the best care possible as soon as they need it.

While the staff of the Multiple Sclerosis Centre has reached amazing heights in its research with the results being published in the most prestigious neurological journals in the world, they have been working in a unit whose physical appearance and arrangement are years behind. Now thanks to a generous donation by Hadassah UK, this unit will get a major facelift and reorganisation.
