Hadassah UK is proud of our outstanding achievements over the years in partnership with our generous donors contributing to nearly all the departments at Hadassah Hospital, as well grants for the training of medical staff and nurses at the Hadassah School of Nursing, research and community projects to help the very diverse communities that make up the population of Jerusalem. In the last fifteen years Hadassah UK have helped raise in the UK approx. £20million which has allowed our doctors and nurses the time, expertise, training and the very latest technology to carry out advanced research and treatment.
Technological Incubator Hub at the New Rehabilitation Centre, Mt. Scopus
The “Technological Incubator Facility” within the new Rehab. Centre, sponsored exclusively by Hadassah UK, will enable innovative research and development of new ways to treat rehab needs. The Incubator will facilitate research, data collection and analysis within the department to evaluate and modify intervention programmes for patients in collaboration with technological companies connected to the field of rehabilitation. New Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory, Mt. Scopus
Until the new Critical Cardiac Care Centre was recently built at Mt Scopus, most acute patients required transfer to Hadassah Ein Kerem, which delayed treatment for critical and unstable patients. This new centre has significantly shortened the time needed for heart attack victims to receive life-saving care. Our experts use new imaging in real time for maximum accuracy and can switch from catheterisation to open heart surgery without moving the patient and losing valuable time. READ MORE
New Paediatric Bone Marrow Transplantation Unit, Ein Kerem
The unit provides the only effective therapy for many immune system disorders and blood cancers requiring stem cell transplants and features a child-friendly environment especially decorated to calm and reassure. New Nursery, Mt Scopus
With the establishment of the brand-new state-of-the-art Nursery, sponsored by Hadassah UK, Hadassah has brought infant care into the 21st century. This Nursery is now fully operational and supports both the adjacent Maternity wards and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for babies requiring special treatment.
New Round Tower, Ein Kerem
Through the rebuilding, renovation and expansion of our Round Tower built over 50 years ago, Hadassah will significantly expand our capacity to serve the growing population of Jerusalem. This will create a more patient-centred healing environment and provide necessary resources to support the ground-breaking work of our doctors, researchers, nurses, and staff members. Massive refurbishment is needed to transform this outdated facility into a vibrant hub of future medicine. Hadassah UK is sponsoring the new wing on the third floor – The Haematology-Oncology Department, which will specialise in treating Blood Cancers. READ MORE
Sarah Wetsman Davidson Surgical Tower, Ein Kerem
Hadassah UK has contributed to the creation of the 19-story Davidson Tower contains 500 beds, 20 operating rooms, 50 intensive care beds, the Heart Institute and the Department of Internal Medicine, all surgical, medical and cardiac intensive care units. The new treatment tower provides a therapeutic environment for our patients and their families, with peaceful healing gardens, rooms tailored to patient needs, and a comprehensive resource centre.
Mother and Child Centre, Mt. Scopus
A new facility, which has been created, with sponsorship from Hadassah UK, expanding the safe and effective care offered to birthing mothers. A modern, spacious department with the latest technological developments meets the highest international standards and ensures the utmost health and wellbeing of the mother and child. Hadassah UK has also supported the creation of a new 8,000 sq. ft. Paediatric A & E with a specialised triage area to enable efficient speedy separation of the more serious cases, This A&E is a dedicated and fully equipped paediatric trauma unit with individual private treatment bays including an isolation unit, Nurse’s Station, a waiting room and essential medical equipment.
Hadassah leads numerous research and training programmes with doctors, scientists, and health professionals from around the world. Hadassah UK has sponsored research in the following key areas – Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Stem Cell Research, Pancreatic Cancer Research and Natural Medicine Research. READ MORE
Hadassah UK has also contributed to: the Departments of Rehabilitation, Cardiology, Obs. and Gynaecology, Neonatology, Orthopaedics, and Diabetes. The Centre for Paediatric Metabolic Diseases, Paediatric HIV and Paediatric Haemato-Oncology, and the Charlotte R. Bloomberg Mother and Child Centre.
Linda’s Activity Centre
Linda’s Activity Centre is housed within the Dyna and Fala Weinstock Department of Paediatric Haemato-Oncology and is a living memorial to Linda Levey z’l. It contains a kindergarten; a classroom where older children can keep up with their schoolwork as well as music therapy, art therapy, and computer rooms.
The Hadassah Medical Clowns Project
Hadassah UK have sponsored Hadassah’s medical clowns – these unique members of staff are used by the medical staff to channel the healing power of humour, bringing laughter to sick children, easing their fear and transforming their hospital experience. READ MORE
The Hadassah Hospital School
The Hadassah School is the only hospital school in Israel that is designated an “Experimental Hospital School” innovating and testing new methodologies for teaching paediatric patients that can be used elsewhere in Israel and around the world assisting in their education and treatments. Our young patients learn about their disease and the medical procedures they will need, to help them understand their treatment in an interactive and informative way. Hadassah UK has recently sponsored the ‘Journey to Hospital Land’ programme for young patients to help them cope with the stress and uncertainty of their illness, pain and treatment. READ MORE
Working beyond national borders, Hadassah has a long-standing commitment to assisting countries in need of emergency, medical relief, or training after natural or man-made disasters.
In response to the Ukrainian refugee crisis, Hadassah reacted within one week to send a Humanitarian Medical Mission with numerous medical experts and supplies to the Ukraine Border.
In 2020, at the start of the world-wide pandemic, Hadassah UK joined forces with Hadassah International to promote and sponsor ground-breaking research into finding effective therapies to treat Covid-19 and share them globally.
